DROME PROJECT: CREATIVITY AND COGNITION STUDIO
Proposal by Greg Wade – 2003

Key Requirements Summary: This is a condensation of the most important requirements drawn from the total known set for this project.

Outcome: This Project is the development and formalisation of new Application Protocol Layers to establish required programming input for reasonable engagement outcomes for sported client deliveries.

To facilitate this, what is required is a collective or enclave (Gathering Of Developers) of individuals to subjugate the delivery of new faculties to collaborate and experiment with the ‘taking place’ with transgress-ional technology. This can be typified as a new generation Personal Digital Assistant from Apple/IBM, or to ‘in fact’ help project a new generation of Personal Rocket Pack/Hydraulics Development from Honda/GE/(‘secret admirer’) per say.

A ‘ready’ socio-economic model or methodology for this type of project delivery is in form video-conferencing or in fact spatialised ‘specialist independent review’ (molecular ‘point of view’ here). The project variable ala’ deliverable ‘with me included’ will encapsulate in nature the maturation of, Video-talk, Message Centre, Talk, Find & Guide, What’s On, Sport, Comedy, Games, News, Environment  & Weather, Finance and to an extent Personal Tone and Star Podium/s and be conceived an Intellectual Modem for Video Audio Sensory Theatre.

For easy reference I use the ‘payment metaphor’ from the new store ‘3’ networks from Orange, which allows the engagement of people with a specialist ‘Point Of View’ that they as individuals normally wouldn’t have or experience. This expansion would of course be defined and redefined with the maturation of this new Project Brand and Operational System. My Role in this Project would be Executive Convenor, and debilitate as such.

Ernest, I could think of your role as Facilitator of Corporate contact and interest, but mainly to manage the Academic transcript and proposal to a Federal level for this project outcome. I adhere to the sense of 6 months for document definition and a max of 4 years total outcome. But my personal sense would require some preliminary deliberation within 2 months for momentums sake.

My experience to date is to hold a Masters in Visual Arts in Interface Design, with a three dimensional computer graphics web implementation background, and have managed up to 6 artists in a commercial context.

I look forward for your assistance in the production of this monumental Project to a Professional and Academic level and still have a focus on practice-based research in multi-disciplinary environments. Thanks for your time on Wednesday it was inspirational, Should talk soon. Cheers, Greg. (Looking for Honorary PHD)

My ‘personal’ interest and experience with this project to date:

A Designer’s Trust: At the heart of all the talk about the world, connectivity, and the tremendous amounts of information available, is all for people’s desire for the ultimate interaction – social iteration. A creative and cognitive designer has an important responsibility: to keep in mind that people need to communicate and express themselves. In this the designer’s work must always be focused on people who will experience the interactivity and on what is appropriate for a particular community; the technology employed is always a secondary consideration. The ultimate task of every designer is to create ways for people as professionals to communicate with each other and share common interests.

‘In the presence of extraordinary reality, consciousness takes the place of the imagination.’

Sensorium Web-Hopper: Examples of spatial metaphors for information systems are manifold, the city metaphor being used frequently to illustrate navigational behaviour. Other examples are information farming or information landscapes. The enriched city metaphor is also a non-immersive virtual reality and makes use of “writing on the world” and “knowledge in the world” to convey more information to the user.

The information city is restructured according to ‘interest profiles’ given to or by the jest of the user’s entailed and similarly of content so that topics are grouped into ‘districts of interest’ Walking along the street the user can look at related elements, as in a library, where all books about a subject are on the same shelf.

Predictability: Intent + Organisational Model + Design = Solution

In every interactive experience, three mental pictures come into play: the designer’s experienced model, or what the designer has in mind when creating the system; the user’s model, or what the user expects from the system’s image, or the actual appearance of the system itself. A project plan or design should be tested to determine where the three pictures overlap the most; those areas of overlap result in natural mappings between required actions and their effects, and between visible information and the user’s interpretation of the system. By following those natural mappings, a designer can create an intuitive system.

There are three main modes of operation when people interact socially; they are Command, Manipulation and Recording. Each action a user takes should have an immediate and obvious effect (people need to know the results of their actions).

Informing the Traveller vs. Controlling the Input: The information designer has an important ‘role to play’ at the front end of the product-design process, particularly in the area which can be described as the interface between user and machine. Product design is very much a team effort with presentation being based on the nature yet nurture of the technology employed. It ‘may’ involve major input from engineers or electronic specialists, but in almost every case will involve a product designer, agronomist and interface designer.

According to this theorem, nature yet nurture itself, even without the rational will, is working to a hidden design, bringing about political pressure by means of violence and passion. It is through conflict, exploitation and calculated self interest that new politicised institutions, domestic and international are created, which in effect serve the goals of reason and freedom.

Individual queries and concerns regarding the future of this project development:

• We reconstruct our knowledge through information and technology, but do we ever define a new body of knowledge or a new way of thinking?
Yes, we take inherent dynamics beyond the universal playground of existence, into the plausible future/s of ‘successive’ generational collectives called information nests. These nestling levels or forms of societal building are ‘noticed’ as a grouped hierarchy collected by life experience and or age.

• What is our future and are we not redefining our own vision anyway and have our virtual realities become our real destiny?
In redefining our vision there is nothing virtual about our reality.

• How are we to see the relative future if we as individuals are empowered to perceive and or change it before it arrives?
The future will always arrive.

• Is the method the madness or the message the medium in which to develop?
Technique vs. Context. The techniques involved in presenting a context compared to displaying an instance are entangled in suspending disbelief. It stretches rational thought and questions itself when shown. What is masked is the lack of it’s true context, and shows up certain buffers in which to make no sense.
